Chess prodigies dominate at state-level competition in Jamshedpur

Chess enthusiasts from across the state converged in Jamshedpur for a thrilling state-level “Sunday Night Rapid Chess Competition”, showcasing the skills of 189 participants and culminating in a grand prize distribution ceremony.

JAMSHEDPUR – Chess aficionados from various districts gathered in Jamshedpur for the exciting "Sunday Night Rapid Chess Competition", a one-day event sponsored by the Khelo Chess Academy under the auspices of the Seraikela Kharswan District Chess Association.

The competition concluded with an award ceremony attended by notable guests and social worker Nishant Solanki as the chief guest.

Special awards were given to Abhisar Mishra as the Best Unrated Player and 67-year-old Narendra Nath Pandey as the Best Veteran Player.

In the age group competitions, winners emerged across various categories, demonstrating the breadth of young talent in chess.

The U-16 categories saw Harsh Kumar Jha and Sunidhi Singh clinching first places in their respective boys and girls divisions.

In the U-14 and U-12 categories, Swastik Banerjee, Rishabh Kumar, Chandni Alda, and others showcased remarkable talent by securing top positions.

Young chess prodigies like Rudra Neel Roy, Naira Aditya, and Mayan Jha emerged victorious in the U-8 and U-10 categories, highlighting the event’s competitive spirit.

The tournament’s top performers, including Ansh Kumar from Ranchi, Debanjan Sinha, and Basant Khandelwal, were rewarded with cash prizes and trophies, reflecting their exceptional chess skills.

The competition featured intense gameplay over nine rounds, with Ansh Kumar securing the winner’s title and the top prize.

All participants received citation certificates, emphasizing the event’s inclusive spirit and the academy’s commitment to nurturing chess talent.

The event was inaugurated by chess officials Manoj Kumar and Vijay Kumar Singh, setting the stage for a day of strategic battles and camaraderie among participants.
