JAMSHEDPUR – Prof. Chetan Singh Solanki, known as the "Solar Man of India," brought his Energy Swaraj Yatra to Jamshedpur, advocating for urgent climate action and energy conservation.
Prof. Solanki addressed 90 teachers from over 60 local schools at the Centre for Excellence Auditorium.
The IIT Bombay professor highlighted the critical state of global warming.
He introduced the ‘Climate Clock’ concept, indicating less than five years to prevent irreversible climate change.
"We must act now to avoid crossing the 1.5°C threshold," Prof. Solanki emphasized.
The Energy Swaraj Foundation founder promoted the AMG principle: Avoid, Minimise, and Generate.
He encouraged attendees to cut their energy consumption by a third.
"Simple changes in our daily habits can make a significant impact," a local teacher remarked after the session.
Prof. Solanki cautioned against over-reliance on solar power.
Instead, he advocated for a balanced approach through local energy production.
The event concluded with participants pledging support for the Energy Swaraj movement.
Prof. Solanki’s nationwide journey began in November 2020.
He travels in a solar-powered bus to raise awareness about clean energy.
The initiative aims to bring Gandhian sustainability principles to Indian households.
