Life Imprisonment for Murderers of JMM Leader Upendra Singh; Sonu Singh, Vinod Singh Sentenced

Jamshedpur court sentences Sonu Singh and Vinod Singh to life in prison for the 2016 murder of JMM leader Upendra Singh; eight others acquitted.

JAMSHEDPUR – On Monday, the court handed down a life sentence to Sonu Singh and Vinod Singh alias Mowgli after finding them guilty of murdering JMM leader and transporter Upendra Singh on November 30, 2016, within the Jamshedpur Civil Court grounds.

Both had a pistol and ammunition retrieved, and they were quickly apprehended by the mob at the scene.

The officers from the Sitaramdera police station arrived at the scene after receiving the information regarding the incident.

On November 30, 2016, criminals shot and killed Upendra Singh, a native of Bagbeda and a leader of the JMM and cum transporter, on the second floor of the Bar Association building of the Jamshedpur Civil Court.

There were 21 witnesses in the case, with a separate legal proceeding for accused Harish Singh.

On August 5, the court had already found Akhilesh Singh, Ajay Srivastava, Sanjay alias Jojo, Pankaj Singh, Jasbir Singh, and Balbir Singh not guilty, but Sonu Singh and Vinod were convicted.

Both of them received sentences from ADJ 1 Sanjay Kumar Upadhyay’s court.
