JAMSHEDPUR – The Centre for Indian Knowledge System at the National Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur, inaugurated the 15th National Symposium on Ancient Indian Science and Technology on March 30, 2026, on the NIT campus.

The annual symposium has been a platform for scholars, researchers, and academics to explore and deliberate on the scientific and technological contributions of ancient India.

The 15th edition of the event continues a long-standing tradition at NIT Jamshedpur of bringing together experts from across the country to engage with classical Indian knowledge systems.

The Centre for Indian Knowledge System has been instrumental in organising this symposium over the years. The centre works towards integrating traditional Indian wisdom with contemporary academic and scientific inquiry.

The symposium provides a forum for presenting research on topics ranging from ancient mathematics, astronomy, metallurgy, medicine, and architecture to classical texts and their scientific underpinnings.

NIT Jamshedpur has consistently been at the forefront of such interdisciplinary academic initiatives. The institute had earlier hosted industry-academia conclaves and other national-level events on its campus.

President Droupadi Murmu had visited NIT Jamshedpur for its 15th convocation ceremony in December 2025, underlining the national stature of the institution.

The symposium is expected to draw participation from researchers, faculty members, and students from universities and institutes across India. Papers and presentations on various aspects of ancient Indian science and technology are being delivered over the course of the event.
