RANCHI – Former Jharkhand Mukti Morcha MLA Paulus Surin and PLFI militant Jetha Kachhap sentenced to life imprisonment for a double murder case dating back to 2013.
On April 6, 2024, Ranchi Court convicted Surin and Kachhap, with Surin arrested and jailed the same day.
The court also imposed fines on the convicts: Rs 25,000 for Surin and Rs 45,000 for Kachhap.
Bhushan Singh and Ram Govind Singh were murdered on November 27, 2013, leading to Surin and Kachhap’s arrest based on a complaint by Singh’s brother.
The case against Surin and Kachhap stemmed from the 2013 double murder, with the trial revealing their involvement.
While Krishna Mahato and three women were acquitted due to insufficient evidence, PLFI leader Dinesh Gope’s trial continues.
The sentencing by Judge Dinesh Kumar concludes a significant chapter in the lengthy legal proceedings following the 2013 incident.
