RANCHI – Jharkhand Rural Development Minister Deepika Pandey Singh, leading a three-member delegation, met the minor rape survivor from Jharkhand in Vadodara, Gujarat, and assessed her condition.
The delegation, which included IG Suman Gupta and Social Welfare Director Kiran Pansy, extended financial aid and handed over a cheque of ₹4 lakh to the survivor’s family. They also urged the Gujarat government to ensure the accused receives the harshest punishment.
Incident and Victim’s Condition
The crime occurred in the Jhagadia GIDC area of Bharuch, Gujarat. The minor survivor, originally from Jharkhand, is undergoing treatment at Vadodara’s SSG Hospital. Before being transferred to Vadodara, the victim was treated at Ankleshwar Hospital and Bharuch Civil Hospital.
Following the incident, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren promptly directed Minister Deepika Pandey Singh to visit the survivor and provide necessary support.
Government’s Response and Action
Minister Singh emphasized that the Jharkhand government remains committed to protecting and supporting its migrant residents. Meanwhile, Gujarat police have arrested the accused, and further legal proceedings are ongoing.
The delegation’s visit highlights the state government’s sensitivity toward migrant Jharkhandis and its commitment to justice for victims.
