Tata Workers Union and Tata Motors Unions Pay Tribute to Labour Leader Michael John
Tata Workers Union, Tata Motors Union, and Tinplate Union honor the late Michael John, former Union President, on his 46th death anniversary.
JAMSHEDPUR – On Thursday, the Tata Workers Union held an emotional tribute to remember their former president, Michael John, on his 46th death anniversary.
John, who was the longest-serving president of the authorized union of Tata Steel, is fondly remembered for his dynamic and visionary leadership.
Union President Sanjeev Chowdhary Tunnu, General Secretary Satish Singh, Deputy President Shailesh Singh, and Vice President Shahnawaz Alam highlighted John’s life and contributions.
Additionally, Dr. MS Singh Manas, a faculty member of the Tata Workers Union Michael John Center, shared detailed insights into John’s biography.
The members were encouraged to emulate John’s leadership in their lives and work within the union.
A two-minute silence was observed towards the end of the meeting, aimed at commemorating the soul of the late Union President.
Tata Motors Workers Union also paid tribute to the late labor leader.
The commemoration involved flower offerings and lighting of candles at the union office, followed by similar gestures at John’s residence and his grave.
All office bearers and committee members, including President Gurmeet Singh Tote and General Secretary RK Singh, participated in this tribute.
Moreover, the Golmuri Tinplate Workers’ Union remembered John at their hall in Jamshedpur.
The tribute began with a garland being placed on John’s photo, followed by a visit to his gravesite in Bistupur for wreath laying and offering heartfelt tributes.
Members recalled John’s significant contributions to workers‘ welfare as the National President of National INTUC and President of Bihar INTUC, in addition to representing many major union movements alongside Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.
