Rohit Singh, involved in cousin’s murder over a matrimonial dispute, apprehended in Bihar’s Nawada district.
JAMSHEDPUR – The curtain falls on the ongoing search for Rohit Singh, aged 32, as Sonari police seized him in Bihar’s Nawada district on Friday.
Singh has been the principal suspect in the murder case of his cousin, Deepak Singh.
Deepak, a 46-year-old bus driver, was the resident of a bustee in Sonari.
The deadly incident took place on March 10 when Deepak was returning home on foot from the market.
Two assailants on a motorcycle ambushed and shot him multiple times, inflicting three bullet wounds, including two in the shoulder.
Deepak was immediately rushed to Tata Main Hospital, and later shifted to a hospital in Kolkata, where he succumbed to his injuries on April 9.
The police investigation pointed towards a plot involving Rohit Singh.
After the incident, Rohit, a resident of Baridih locality in the steel city, went into hiding.
However, Sonari police managed to locate and capture him on Friday.
Prior to this, in May, two shooters, Akshay Singh alias Bala and Navnit Kumar alias Bhola Yadav, were apprehended.
The duo had been hired by Rohit to execute his cousin’s murder.
Bala and Bhola Yadav, from Bhojpur district, had allegedly received Rs 3 lakh from Rohit for the contracted killing.
According to the police, the investigation revealed a failed marriage arrangement as the motive behind the murder.
Two years prior, Deepak had organized Rohit’s wedding to a local girl, but the union ended in a sour note, fuelling animosity between the cousins.
Now in custody, Rohit is set to face the legal repercussions for the alleged murder of his cousin brother.
