2 more arrested in Dhatkidih firing case

No free run to criminals in Jamshedpur any more: SSP Prabhat Kumar

Jamshedpur: Jamshedpur police have arrested two more accused in the July 15 Dhatkidih firing case. The incident had occurred in Dhatkidih under the jurisdiction of Bistupur police station. The police have now arrested two more persons and have sent them to judicial custody. The two more accused arrested include Shahnawaz Ahmed and Meraj Asghar.

Police have recovered two mobiles, two country-made pistols, one country-made pistol, single barrel rifle and 15 rounds of live cartridges from them.

Giving details of the case, the SSP of Jamshedpur Prabhat Kumar said that 10 members of the gang have already gone to jail.

All have links with the notorious Salman gang.

He said that the aim of the gang members was to extort money by creating panic in the area.

Earlier, the SSP held a meeting with all the police officers. 

The incidents of snatching in the city in the last 3 months were reviewed in the meeting.

The SSP told the media that a special strategy has been chalked out to curb snatching incidents in the city. He said that the results of the strategy will be seen in the coming days.

However, he did not divulge the details of the strategy.

He said that whatever steps have to be taken in the direction of making the city crime free will be taken.

He appealed to the criminals to return to the mainstream.

He said that if police officers need tough action for cracking down on crime, then permission will be granted to them.

The SSP said that CCTV cameras that were lying in disuse in the city are being repaired.

He said that under no circumstances will the criminals be allowed to have free run in the city.
