Police Arrest Man with Weapons at Chaibasa Bus Stand

Karan Kumar Mahato caught with firearms and 60 rounds of ammunition

CHAIBASA – Police arrested Karan Kumar Mahato at Badajamda Bus Stand in Chaibasa with illegal weapons.

The accused resides in Raghuvar Nagar under Vermamines police station. One country-made pistol was recovered from his possession. Moreover, one automatic pistol was also seized during arrest.

Two empty magazines were found with the suspect. Police recovered 41 bullets of 7.65mm caliber ammunition. However, 10 bullets of 9mm caliber were also seized.

Nine bullets of 8mm caliber were recovered additionally. Two mobile phones including iPhone were confiscated from him. Furthermore, the arrest followed confidential intelligence received by SP.

A robbery occurred at Anil Chourasia’s house in October. The incident took place under Guwa police station jurisdiction. Besides, Rs 2.5 lakh cash was stolen during robbery.

One gold bracelet was also taken by criminals. Gold chain was stolen alongside cash and jewelry. However, unknown criminals executed the robbery at victim’s residence.

Case number 45/25 was registered at Guwa station. Five criminals were sent to jail earlier. In addition, arrested suspect Deepak Mahato’s nephew Karan participated.

The weapons were meant for wanted criminal Raju Lohar. Intelligence suggested Karan would deliver arms at Badajamda location. Moreover, SDPO formed special team for operation.

The team conducted raid at bus stand location. Karan Kumar Mahato was caught with weapons during operation. However, the arrest prevented weapon transfer to wanted criminal.

Chaibasa police have made several significant arrests recently. The law enforcement continues tackling organized crime effectively. Moreover, drug-related arrests have occurred near bus stand previously. The DGP commended local teams for operational successes.
