Kharkai River Surpasses Danger Level in Jamshedpur

Rising Water Levels Prompt Authorities to Issue Alert for Riverside Residents

Key Points:

• Kharkai River flows above danger mark

• Subarnarekha River nears warning level

• Officials urge caution for residents in flood-prone areas

JAMSHEDPUR – District authorities issue alert as continuous rainfall causes rivers to swell, threatening nearby communities.

The Kharkai River has surpassed its danger level, flowing at 129.070 meters at the Adityapur Bridge site.

Meanwhile, the Subarnarekha River is approaching its critical point, measuring 118.84 meters at the Mango Bridge site.

Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal has appealed to residents along both rivers to remain vigilant and prioritize safety.

Authorities strongly advise against venturing near the riverbanks to prevent potential loss of life or property.

The district administration urges citizens to strictly adhere to official guidelines during this period of heightened alert.

Continuous rainfall in the region has led to the rapid rise in water levels of both the Kharkhai and Subarnarekha rivers.

Local officials are closely monitoring the situation as the rivers continue to swell due to persistent precipitation.

Residents in low-lying areas and flood-prone zones are advised to take necessary precautions and be prepared for possible evacuations.

The Kharkai River’s danger level is set at 129.00 meters, which it has now exceeded by 7 centimeters.

On the other hand, the Subarnarekha River is currently 2.66 meters below its danger mark of 121.50 meters.

However, authorities remain concerned as water levels continue to rise steadily in both rivers.

Emergency response teams have been put on standby to address any potential flooding situations that may arise.

The district administration is coordinating efforts to ensure the safety of residents living in vulnerable areas along the riverbanks.

Citizens are encouraged to stay informed about the latest updates and follow instructions from local authorities promptly.
