Jamshedpur FC’s strategic decision to field an all-Indian starting XI pays off, securing a 2-0 victory against Shillong Lajong FC, with Mohammed Sanan clinching the Kalinga Player of the Match title.

JAMSHEDPUR – In a strategic move, Jamshedpur FC’s Head Coach fielded an all-Indian Starting XI, leading to an exhilarating match.

The team demonstrated their offensive strength early on, with Muhammad Uvais delivering a key pass to Semboi, who narrowly missed scoring.

The first half was intense, with both teams creating chances but failing to find the net.

Jamshedpur FC’s persistence paid off just before halftime when Semboi set up Sanan for a decisive goal at the 45th minute.

This goal gave Jamshedpur FC a significant lead and momentum going into the break.

The second half saw further excitement with Muhammad Uvais being replaced by Nikhil Barla.

A tense moment occurred when Seiminlen Doungel missed a penalty, striking the post, and Rei Tachikawa came on for Saphaba Singh Telem.

Goalkeeper Vishal Yadav made a pivotal save in the 55th minute, maintaining Jamshedpur FC’s lead.

Strategic substitutions continued, with German and Ambri replacing Nongdamba and Imran.

These changes proved fruitful when Haokip scored an impressive header in the 73rd minute, assisted by Sanan, extending the lead to 2-0.

Mohammed Sanan, with his outstanding performance of one goal and one assist, was named the Kalinga Player of the Match.

Jamshedpur FC’s win sets the stage for an eagerly awaited semi-final against East Bengal FC on January 24th, promising a thrilling encounter.
