South Eastern Railway’s Milestone: First Train on Ghatsila-Salgajhori Line

Goods Train Marks Beginning of Ghatsila-Salgajhori 3rd Line Services

South Eastern Railway’s new milestone: the first goods train ran on the Ghatsila-Salgajhori 3rd line, marking a significant step in rail modernization.

JAMSHEDPUR – In a significant development, South Eastern Railway achieved a new milestone on Thursday with the first goods train successfully running on the newly constructed Ghatsila-Salgajhori 3rd line. This event, taking place at 6.25 p.m., marks a major advancement in the railway modernization project under the leadership of Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.

The Ghatsila-Salgajhori 3rd line, an ambitious project, is expected to significantly boost both freight and passenger transport in the region. It promises enhanced convenience for passengers and commercial service users alike.

The project’s initiation was part of a broader expansion of the railway network, including pre-non interlocking and interlocking works at stations such as Ghatsila, Galudih, Rakhamines, Asanboni, and Salgajhori. This expansion has necessitated a 14-day line block from October 25 to November 7, impacting train operations on the Howrah-Tatanagar route.

Ghatsila, located in the East Singhbhum district of Jharkhand, is a significant town on the bank of the Subarnarekha River. It’s known for its diverse landscape, featuring dams, rivers, forests, and valleys.

The South Eastern Railway General Manager, Archana Joshi, has been active in overseeing various aspects of railway operations in the region. This includes inspections and initiatives to enhance passenger amenities at stations like Ghatshila and Rakhamines.

Further, significant rail projects have been inaugurated in West Bengal under the South Eastern Railway zone, including the third line between Kalaikunda and Jhargram. These projects, aiming to decongest road traffic and improve urban mobility, reflect the growing emphasis on rail infrastructure in the region.

This development in the railway sector is poised to have a substantial impact on the economic growth and connectivity of the area, bringing new opportunities for both local residents and businesses.
