JAMSHEDPUR – Prime Minister Narendra Modi ignited the BJP’s Jharkhand election campaign with a rousing rally in Jamshedpur, spotlighting Champai Soren as a key ally.
Modi’s surprise road journey to Jamshedpur for the Parivartan Rally invigorated BJP workers across Kolhan and Jharkhand.
The Prime Minister’s speech focused on Champai Soren’s mistreatment by JMM despite his lifelong dedication.
BJP state president Babulal Marandi and other party leaders joined Modi on stage.
The rally concluded with a symbolic handshake between Modi and Champai Soren.
Political analysts interpret this gesture as BJP’s strategy to counter Chief Minister Hemant Soren.
"The lotus will bloom in Kolhan," declared Champai after the event.
He added, "This was my first meeting with the honorable Prime Minister. He gave me the honor of sharing the stage with him."
Champai praised the rally’s success despite heavy rain.
A senior BJP leader expressed optimism about regaining support in Kolhan with Champai’s induction.
Kolhan’s Significance
Kolhan’s 14 assembly seats include nine reserved for Scheduled Tribes.
BJP faced a complete defeat in Kolhan during the last assembly elections.
However, the party saw a resurgence in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
Bidyut Baran Mahato’s record win in Jamshedpur has boosted BJP’s confidence.
The party now aims to capitalize on this momentum for the upcoming assembly elections.
