Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Roy calls for ownership rights for residents in and around Tata-lease area during Jharkhand Assembly session.
RANCHI – Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Roy, in the Jharkhand Assembly’s Zero Hour, advocated for ownership rights for residents within and around the Tata-lease area in Jamshedpur.
Roy emphasized that the Jamshedpur Industrial City draft, approved by the state cabinet, includes 16 wards of the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC).
He pointed out that while the Industrial City Committee is set to collect ‘right of way’ grants, residents’ ownership rights should be confirmed first.
Roy urged the Assembly Speaker to ensure the issuance of a notification granting these ownership rights before collecting grants.
The MLA also Raised concerns regarding the lack of investigation into the drug procurement scandal he highlighted in March 2023.
Responding to Roy’s query, Health Minister Banna Gupta mentioned the formation of a new inquiry committee under the Health Department’s Additional Secretary, Jai Prakash, on August 2, 2023.
This new committee follows the transfer of the previous chairman of the committee constituted on March 16.
Roy’s demands reflect a significant push towards recognizing and securing the rights of Jamshedpur’s residents, aiming to bring clarity and stability to the area’s land ownership and governance structures.
