Jamshedpur Police Arrest Four in Connection with Snatching Cases
Bistupur police arrest four youths involved in snatching; two found with weapons during routine check; stolen goods sold to local jeweler.
JAMSHEDPUR – Bistupur police arrested two youths with weapons during a checking operation near G Town at 8.30 pm on Saturday night.
The police were conducting routine checks when two youths arrived on a bike and attempted to flee upon seeing the police.
Both individuals were caught near Bistupur Karbala.
During interrogation, the youths identified themselves as Md Fayaz Alam and Sajid Sheikh alias Billa.
A loaded country-made pistol was recovered from Fayaz, and a live bullet was found on Sajid.
During interrogation, both revealed that they used to snatch women’s jewelry.
They said that they used to sell the snatched goods to Mango-based jewelers.
They further disclosed that the snatched goods were sold to Vikas Mane, owner of Vikas Jewelers located on Old Purulia Road, and his staff, Rajan Kumar.
Following the information, the police arrested both Vikas and Rajan.
Rural SP Mukesh Kumar Lunayat said that the stolen items included a chain snatched near Jugsalai police station, sold to Vikas for Rs 33,000, and jewelry stolen from Sitaramdera police station area, sold to Rajan for one lakh rupees.
A bike worth over two lakhs and a mobile phone worth Rs 1.50 lakhs were recovered from Fayaz.
Both Fayaz and Sajid used to snatch to fulfill their hobbies.
The duo had met in jail and soon started operating in tandem.
Rural SP disclosed that Fayaz and Sajid were previously imprisoned too.
Sajid has more than 14 cases registered against him.
The duo met in a child reform home and planned to start snatching while in jail.
Both got involved in snatching incidents upon release, targeting women.
All arrested individuals have been sent to judicial custody.
