Capacity Building Programme Sessions Focus on Teaching and Learning for Primary and Middle School Teachers
A pioneering Capacity Building Programme for in-service teachers heralds a new era in education, blending traditional teaching methods with innovative approaches to meet contemporary needs.
JAMSHEDPUR – On March 16, 2024, in-service primary and middle school teachers participated in the second day of a groundbreaking Capacity Building Programme was organized keeping the changes made by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in focus.
This initiative is part of DAV’s efforts to acquaint teachers with recent changes in teaching and learning methodologies, emphasizing a student-centered approach to education.
The programme featured sessions across various disciplines, including English, Mathematics, Science, and more, each designed to introduce educators to the latest pedagogical strategies. Among the highlights was the EEDP session, focusing on the holistic development of nursery children, which explored curriculum guidelines, social and emotional development, and innovative assessment techniques.
Subject-Specific Innovations
A particularly notable session on English provided teachers with new perspectives on effective writing skills and the correct usage of formats. "The focus on an Effective Approach to Writing Skills has equipped us with tools to enhance our students’ abilities in articulating their thoughts clearly," shared one of the participating teachers.
In mathematics, educators delved into Art Integration, exploring creative ways to teach complex concepts. The Department of Hindi offered insights into incorporating song and dance in lower classes, enriching the learning experience. Meanwhile, science sessions focused on gamification and the 5 E model, aimed at fostering a more engaging and interactive learning environment.
The EEDP Session: A Holistic Approach
The EEDP (Early Education Development Programme) session stood out for its comprehensive approach to nurturing young minds. "This session was a revelation, emphasizing the importance of social and emotional development alongside academic learning in the early years," commented an enthusiastic participant. The discussion highlighted the significance of Art and Creativity in the holistic development of children, offering strategies to foster a conducive learning environment.
Physical Education: Beyond Fitness
Physical Education sessions explored the multifaceted benefits of sports and physical activities, highlighting topics like Judo and Gender Equality in Sports.
