Elderly Woman Foils Chain Snatching Attempt in Jamshedpur
Brave 72-year-old and her companions overpower thief, recover stolen chain.
A 72-year-old woman and her companions thwarted a chain snatching attempt in Mango, Jamshedpur, demonstrating remarkable bravery.
JAMSHEDPUR – In a bold incident that happened in Mango, Jamshedpur, 72-year-old Bindu Devi, her daughter-in-law Ruby Singh, and their neighbor Kanchan Kumari stopped a robber riding a stolen Hero Honda motorcycle from trying to take the chain off of the motorcycle.
Tuesday evening around 6:30 PM, Bindu Devi was taking a stroll close to her Banmali Garden residence when the tragedy happened.
Bindu Devi was approached by a burglar on a stolen motorcycle, who took the gold chain from her neck.
The three women started pursuing right away.
Bindu Devi grasped the rear of the motorcycle forcefully as the burglar tried to escape on his motorcycle.
The robber was subsequently forced off the motorcycle by the women, who then started beating him.
Neighbors gathered at the scene upon hearing the disturbance and notified the MGM police station.
Officers quickly came and apprehended the thief.
The motorcycle was found to be stolen, and further inquiry revealed that the thief had a criminal record that included multiple convictions and jail time.
After learning of the occurrence, local BJP leader Vikas Singh went to the location to praise the women for their bravery and exhort males to take courage from them.
Singh went with the ladies to the MGM police station, where they helped identify the robber and got him arrested.
He also disclosed that the three women would be recognized for their bravery.
