Massive Flooding in Parsudih, Jamshedpur: Over 150 Houses Submerged

90% of Parsudih Dakshin Kalimati Panchayat area in Jamshedpur submerged due to inadequate drainage, forcing locals to take refuge on rooftops as over 150 homes are under water.

JAMSHEDPUR – A severe flood situation has arisen in the Parsudih Dakshin Kalimati Panchayat area of Jamshedpur, with approximately 90% of the region now underwater.

Due to a lack of proper drainage, more than 150 homes are entirely submerged, leaving residents with no choice but to seek refuge on their rooftops.

Extent of the Disaster

Drainage from the entire Parsudih region, including the Southern Kali Mati Panchayat area, typically flows through this locality.

However, due to an insufficient drainage system, water floods the low-lying regions first.

The situation further escalated with rainwater from late evening showers seeping into homes in higher areas as well, leading to a state of panic amongst the residents who had to go without sleep and could not perform their daily activities.

Lack of Administrative Intervention

Although it’s a panchayat area, the inhabitants were assured by their representatives that the situation would be quickly resolved.

Unfortunately, no action has been taken to date, and no senior district administration officials have visited the flood-stricken area.

Railway Drainage Issues Add to the Misery

Previously, waterlogging used to be a problem, but this is the first time the situation has escalated to such an extent.

The lower part of the area, located on a railway plot where water drainage usually takes place, has experienced a complete system failure.

Despite numerous complaints to the railway management about the issue, effective action has only been initiated now that the situation has become critical, proving to be insufficient.

Local resident Santosh Srivastava reported that all houses in Makdampur, Shiv Mandir, Machhua Pada, and Mahto Pada of the Dakshin Kalimati Panchayat have been submerged.
