Tata Steel UISL Inaugurates Advanced 3 MGD Water Treatment Plant at Ramadhin Bagan

Tata Steel UISL’s new 3 MGD Water Treatment Plant aims to meet the growing demand for drinking water and support sustainable industrial development.

Jamshedpur: Tata Steel UISL has inaugurated a state-of-the-art 3 Million Gallon per Day (MGD) water treatment plant at Ramadhin Bagan, located near the ISWP Transportation Park.

The plant is designed to address the increasing demand for drinking water in various locations, including Namda Basti, Mishra Bagan, JEMCO Azad Basti, Gowala Basti, Ramadin Bagan, Manifit Basti, and Mohananda Basti.

The water treatment plant was inaugurated by Chanakya Chaudhary, Vice President of Corporate Services at Tata Steel, and Ritu Raj Sinha, Managing Director of Tata Steel UISL.

The facility is equipped with the latest technologies and equipment, ensuring high levels of efficiency and reliability. Disinfection is carried out through an electro-chlorination plant, eliminating the need for liquid chlorine. Wastewater generated in filter beds is recycled back to the inlet zone.

The plant also features a laboratory facility for physico-chemical and microbiological analysis. The automation system includes PLC-controlled filter beds, pump houses, and clarifier systems.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Pranay Sinha, Chief of Corporate Services at Tata Steel, Capt. Dhananjay Mishra, Senior General Manager of TSUISL, Sanjiv Kumar Jha, EIC (Town Services & RE) at TSUISL, and senior leadership teams from both Tata Steel and Tata Steel UISL.

The water treatment plant is expected to play a crucial role in meeting the region’s growing demand for purified water and supporting the sustainable development of the industrial sector.
