Saikhom Mirabai Chanu is a Hanuman Bhakt, now many await liberals to cancel her

Desk: Saikhom Mirabai Chanu, who today won the first medal for India, silver in weightlifting in 49 kg category, is a Hanuman and Shiv bhakt. Hailing from Manipur, she has reportedly taken Bhagwan Shiva’s and Hanuman’s idols to Tokyo too.

Social media has exploded with her mentions all around as people started congratulating her for her great performance.

She, on the other hand, has thanked ‘the billion prayers of all Indians which were with her during this journey.”

On the other hand, people have started searching for Mirabai Chanu and her achievements on search engines and social media like never before.

There are reports that she was broken and disappointed when she failed to win any medal at 2016 Rio Olympics.

In May, she had gone to US for conditioning and strengthening of her shoulders where she got her shoulders treated.

Reports say that Mirabai Chanu has memorised Hanuman Chalisa too and that she started worshipping Bhagwan Hanuman and Bhagwan Shiv after her not-so-impressive performance at Rio Olympics.

Mirabai Chanu

Reports say that she keeps the idols of both these deities in her room and feels that Hanuman Chalisa gives her strength.

However, there are many who are waiting for the ‘usual-left-secular-liberal’ brigade to start cancelling her due to her devotion to Hindu deities.

Journalist and author Rahul Roushan too took a swipe at the leftists and remarked: “Cancelled” at her photos showing her as a devoted Hindu and took a guess at how ‘liberals’ would react to her achievement.

Earlier, two NASA interns, Pratima Roy and Puja Roy, had faced a lot of criticism and Hinduphobic comments for their photos showing them with idols and pictures of Hindu deities.

Even before that, Saina Nehwal, the ace shuttler, had faced a lot of criticism from the left and secular brigade after she joined BJP and tweeted in favour of her party. The comments even stretched to her sporting skills and she was called ‘sarkari shuttler’ on social media.
