Neeraj Singh, Bar Manager Held in Rajasthan, Brought Back
Key Points:
- DD Bar owner Neeraj Singh arrested in Rajasthan over Himanshu case
- Bar manager also held, both brought on transit remand
- Main assailant still absconding despite ongoing raids
JAMSHEDPUR – Police have arrested a fugitive bar owner tied to the high-profile Himanshu murder case.
The arrests mark a significant breakthrough for Jamshedpur police in the closely watched Bistupur case. Investigators have been under pressure to make progress since the killing.
BJP leader and DD Bar owner Neeraj Singh was picked up from Rajasthan. Officers also detained the bar’s manager alongside him.
Both men are being brought to Jamshedpur on transit remand. Police plan to question them extensively once they arrive.
According to investigators, Himanshu was led outside following a dispute inside the bar. He was then allegedly attacked and killed by assailants during that confrontation.
Police had already registered charges against Neeraj Singh and the manager. These included criminal conspiracy alongside other relevant sections of law.
So far, five people have been arrested and sent to jail in the case. However, the main accused behind the attack remains at large.
Officers said raids are continuing in an effort to trace him. “We expect major disclosures once questioning begins,” a police officer said.
Meanwhile, authorities remain confident that the lead accused will soon be caught. The case has already triggered significant unrest across the city.
Protests and a citywide shutdown followed news of Himanshu’s death last month. Markets across Jamshedpur were shut as tensions escalated.
Besides the arrests, authorities had earlier raided Neeraj Singh’s residence, seizing two vehicles. Officials had also taken action against the bar itself, suspending its operating license.
In addition, four police personnel including the station in-charge were earlier suspended over the case. The victim’s family had also refused cremation until certain demands were met.
Police had further assured the family that all absconding accused would be arrested soon. On the other hand, a citywide bandh earlier disrupted normal life over the case.
