Promoting Biodiversity: Tata Steel Hosts Bird-Watching Event in Sukinda

In a move to bolster environmental consciousness, Tata Steel organized a bird-watching session in Odisha, showcasing a commitment to biodiversity.

JAMSHEDPUR – Tata Steel’s Ferro Alloys and Minerals Division (FAMD) took a significant step towards environmental awareness and biodiversity conservation by hosting a bird-watching session at the Sukinda Chromite Mine in Odisha’s Jajpur district.

The event, which brought together the local community, nature enthusiasts, and company employees, aimed to increase knowledge about the diverse bird species inhabiting the mine’s natural surroundings.

Experts, including renowned naturalists and ornithologists, shared valuable insights about the birds residing in the area, emphasizing the importance of preserving their habitats.

Pankaj Satija, Executive-In-Charge (FAMD) at Tata Steel, highlighted the company’s dedication to environmental stewardship and biodiversity, seeing the event as a way to strengthen the bond between people and nature, ensuring a sustainable future for coming generations.

Dr. Justus Joshua, a senior scientist specializing in biodiversity, along with Ms. Jyoti Kashyap, led the session, providing attendees with detailed information about various bird species’ life cycles, nesting habits, and migration patterns.

Participants, equipped with binoculars for an enhanced bird-watching experience, delighted in observing numerous resident and migratory birds, making the event a memorable one.

The local community actively participated in the bird-watching event, fostering community engagement and heightening awareness of local biodiversity.
