Key Points:

JAMSHEDPUR – City Superintendent of Police Lalit Meena took to the streets of Jamshedpur on Monday to personally assess the traffic situation, inspecting several tempo stands in the Sakchi area and issuing directions to auto and tempo operators on the spot.
During the inspection, the City SP instructed drivers to operate their vehicles only from designated stands, to follow traffic rules and to refrain from causing disorder on the roads. He made it clear that drivers found operating without the prescribed dress code or running vehicles from no-parking zones would face strict action.
Meena said that continuous drives would be conducted to keep traffic movement in the city smooth. Special surveillance would also be maintained against encroachment and illegal parking, which had been causing persistent congestion in several parts of the city.
He appealed to tempo drivers to extend their cooperation, saying that adherence to traffic regulations was the only way to free the city from jams and disorder. The police administration, he said, would be carrying out such inspections and campaigns on a regular basis in the coming days.
Jamshedpur had earlier seen public protests against traffic police conduct, and auto and tempo operators had also previously staged a protest in Bistupur over related grievances. The City SP’s field visit was part of a broader administrative push to tighten law enforcement across Jamshedpur’s urban zones.
