JAMSHEDPUR – The Additional Director General of Police (ADG) of the South Chhota Nagpur range chaired a comprehensive review meeting of law-and-order and policing in the Kolhan region at the Senior Superintendent of Police office auditorium here on Wednesday.
The meeting was attended by the Kolhan DIG, the Senior Superintendent of Police of East Singhbhum, the Superintendent of Police of Seraikela-Kharsawan, and the Superintendent of Police of West Singhbhum, Chaibasa, along with other senior officers.
During the meeting, a detailed review was conducted of the progress of pending cases across the region. In addition, the current state of law and order, matters relating to Special Investigation Teams (SIT), and the updated status of SIPU, ICJS and CCTNS were also examined at length.
The discussions further covered traffic management and the security arrangements at major tourist destinations in the Kolhan area. Moreover, operational challenges being faced in running the Dial-112 emergency service and the progress of the ITSSO project were also taken up.
During the review, the ADG issued directions to officers across all districts to ensure swift disposal of pending cases. He stressed the need to further strengthen law and order and to make effective use of available technological systems in policing operations.
The ADG emphasised that in matters related to public safety, officers must act with both sensitivity and promptness. He said a people-oriented approach was essential to effective Jamshedpur and Kolhan policing.
At the close of the meeting, all officers were directed to ensure time-bound achievement of set targets. They were also asked to take the necessary steps to make policing more effective and more responsive to the needs of the public.
The Kolhan region, comprising East Singhbhum, Seraikela-Kharsawan and West Singhbhum districts, has in recent months seen a range of law-and-order challenges, including armed criminal activity and trafficking cases. The Kolhan police have also been engaged in anti-naxal operations in forested areas of the region.
