Roadside Bus Burns to Ashes in Mango; Electric Pole and Wires Also Damaged

Key Points:

  • Bus parked on Old Puruliya Road No. 1 gutted in early morning blaze
  • An electricity pole and several wires also destroyed in the fire
  • No casualties reported; cause of fire is under investigation

JAMSHEDPUR — The city has woken up to a new fire accident today early morning. A bus parked overnight on a roadside in Mango’s Azadnagar police station area was reduced to ashes in an early morning fire on Wednesday, damaging an electricity pole and several power lines nearby.

The incident took place near Raj Mobile on Old Puruliya Road No. 1. Residents in the area spotted smoke and flames rising from the stationary vehicle. They promptly alerted both police and the concerned departments.

The fire spread so rapidly that the entire bus was engulfed within minutes. According to sources, the bus was routinely parked at the same spot every night and operated on its designated route each morning.

At the time of the incident, the vehicle was parked and unoccupied. Meanwhile, the cause of the fire has not yet been determined. The Jamshedpur area has seen several such bus fire incidents in recent weeks.

An electricity department pole standing near the parked bus also caught fire. Several power lines connected to it were damaged in the blaze. As a result, power supply disruptions in surrounding localities are now anticipated.

Officials from the electricity department reached the spot shortly after the fire. They assessed the extent of the damage to the pole and wires. On the other hand, such electrical damage from fires has been a recurring concern in the Mango region.

Police arrived at the scene and took stock of the situation. They have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the blaze. A probe into whether a short circuit or another fault triggered the fire is currently underway.

Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities were reported in the incident. Local residents later said that had the fire not been controlled in time, nearby shops and properties could have suffered significant losses. A large crowd gathered at the site for a considerable time after the fire was extinguished.
