JAMSHEDPUR – A young man sustained a bullet injury to his right leg during a late-night firing incident in the Golmuri area of Jamshedpur on Sunday, and was subsequently admitted to Tata Main Hospital for treatment.

The injured man was identified as Deepak Jha, a resident of Tata Line. According to Jha, he had been employed at a private company until recently and was scheduled to travel to Kolkata on Monday for a job interview. On Sunday night, he was on his way to Golmuri to purchase sweets.

Near Debun Bagan Chowk, a group of youths was engaged in a heated argument. Before Jha could move away, a shot was fired. One bullet struck him in the right leg. It is not yet known who fired the shot or what had triggered the altercation among those involved.

After being hit, Jha called an acquaintance on his phone and sought help. The acquaintance arrived and transported him to Tata Main Hospital, where doctors confirmed the bullet wound. His treatment was continuing at the time of reporting.

Golmuri police were alerted and began investigating the incident. Officers have been questioning residents of the area. All aspects of the case, including the identity of the shooter and the motive behind the firing, were under examination. Firing incidents in and around Jamshedpur have drawn increasing police attention in recent weeks. In a separate firing case in Jugsalai, police had arrested six members of a criminal gang earlier. Earlier in April, a youth had died after a similar shooting incident in Sitaramdera.

No arrests had been made in the Golmuri case as of the time of this report.
