Jamtara Police Arrest Three Cyber Fraud Accused

Gang Used Fake Helpline Numbers and APK Files

JAMTARA – Police arrested three alleged cyber criminals during a special operation targeting online fraud networks in the district.

Meanwhile, the raid was conducted in a secluded area.

The location was near Tetulbandha village.

Moreover, the operation was led by Cyber DSP Amit Ravidas.

The team acted on intelligence received by SP Shambhu Kumar Singh.

Three suspects were detained during the operation.

They were identified as Mahendra Kumar Mandal, Tinku Kumar Mandal and Vikas Kumar Mandal.

All three belonged to Dharuwadih village.

Furthermore, the accused were arrested by a team.

The team was headed by Cyber Crime Station in-charge Rajesh Mandal.

Police recovered seven mobile phones from the suspects.

In addition, nine SIM cards were seized.

A case was registered under Cyber Crime P.S. Case No. 34/26.

Meanwhile, SP Shambhu Kumar Singh disclosed details during a press briefing.

He said the accused targeted banking customers.

Moreover, they used credit card-related false claims.

Victims were told their cards required replacement.

The suspects also uploaded fake helpline numbers online.

Furthermore, those numbers impersonated banks and companies.

Victims were contacted through those channels.

Additionally, the accused persuaded people to install APK files.

Those files helped access sensitive information.

Moreover, banking details were allegedly obtained through the scheme.

Funds were later withdrawn from victim accounts.

Police also examined the suspects’ criminal backgrounds.

Meanwhile, Mahendra Kumar Mandal had an earlier cyber crime case.

He was charge-sheeted in Case No. 62/21.

The raiding team included several police officials.

Amrit Kumar Ram and Prashant Kumar participated.

Additionally, reserve guard personnel assisted the operation.

SP Singh said action against cyber criminals continued.

Furthermore, 75 cyber offenders were arrested during 2026.

All were sent to judicial custody.

He said the campaign would continue.
