Raghubar Das Threatens Jamshedpur Bandh on July 3 over Murder Case

JAMSHEDPUR – The family of slain Karni Sena leader Himanshu Singh has refused to perform his last rites, demanding a permanent government job for his widow Richa Singh and swift legal action against all those accused in the murder.

Tension flared again on Wednesday outside the deceased’s residence when district administration officials arrived to negotiate with the family. The family members turned the officials away and raised slogans against the police and the administration.

The district administration had sent a job offer letter for Richa Singh through the Dhalbhum Sub-Divisional Officer. However, since the offer was for a temporary position rather than a permanent one, the family refused to accept it. The family stated bluntly that neither would the body be cremated nor would protests cease until Richa Singh received a permanent government appointment.

Meanwhile, former Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das, former minister Banna Gupta, Mango Mayor Sudha Gupta and JMM spokesperson Kunal Sarangi visited the bereaved family during the day.

Speaking to the media, Raghubar Das warned that a Jamshedpur bandh would be called for July 3 if justice was not delivered to the family and if the law-and-order situation in the city did not improve.

Himanshu Singh, who headed the youth wing of Karni Sena in Jamshedpur, was fatally stabbed outside the DD Bar in Bistupur. The Bistupur station in-charge was suspended earlier in connection with the case, and Inspector Niranjan Kumar has been named the new officer in-charge.

The administration has not yet responded publicly to the family’s demand for a permanent post.
