Dozens of Officers Moved to Strengthen Law and Order
Key Points:
- East Singhbhum police transfer traffic staff to city police stations
- Five constables from each traffic outpost deputed elsewhere
- Move follows rising crime after Himanshu Singh murder case
JAMSHEDPUR – East Singhbhum police have ordered a sweeping reshuffle within the traffic branch.
The exercise comes amid mounting scrutiny of law enforcement following the killing of Karni Sena leader Himanshu Singh. Officials say the aim is tackling rising crime and staff shortages at police stations.
The Superintendent of Police’s office issued orders transferring numerous traffic personnel citywide. Five constables from each traffic outpost have also been deputed to various stations.
According to the order, officers from traffic posts in Sakchi, Bistupur, Jugsalai, Golmuri and Mango have been reassigned. Sub-inspectors, assistant sub-inspectors and women assistant sub-inspectors are among those affected.
These personnel have been posted to stations across urban and rural areas, as well as to the Crime Control Room and police centers. All officers have been directed to join their new postings immediately.
Sources said the city has recently witnessed a spike in serious offenses. Incidents involving killings, robbery, snatching and firing have increased noticeably.
Police functioning had come under sustained criticism following the Himanshu Singh case. Consequently, authorities decided to deploy experienced traffic officers to reinforce station-level policing.
Officials believe the change will strengthen night patrolling considerably. It is also expected to improve the crackdown on criminals operating across the district.
Presence of police personnel in sensitive localities is likely to increase as a result. “This reshuffle will make patrolling and crime response far more effective,” a senior police officer said.
The transfer order affects more than 40 personnel across multiple ranks. Some illustrative postings from the order are listed below.
| Officer | Previous Posting | New Posting |
|---|---|---|
| Sub-Inspector Aravind Rai | Traffic Post, Bistupur | Ghatshila Police Station |
| Sub-Inspector Ramakant Ram | Traffic Post, Sakchi | Crime Control Room, Sakchi |
| Sub-Inspector Kauleshwar Baski | Traffic Post, Bistupur | Potka Police Station |
| Sub-Inspector Ranjan Kumar | Traffic Post, Golmuri | Burmamines Police Station |
Meanwhile, the reshuffle follows other recent administrative changes within the district police force. IPS officer Ehtesham Waquarib had recently taken charge as the new Jamshedpur SSP.
A similar reshuffle had also taken place earlier in neighboring Seraikela-Kharsawan district. On the other hand, Jamshedpur’s City SP had separately inspected traffic arrangements across the city.
Besides this, four police personnel including the Bistupur station in-charge had earlier been suspended over the Himanshu Singh case. The Parichari Pravar-First at Golmuri police center has been directed to ensure compliance.
Officers must confirm all transferred personnel join their new postings without delay. A compliance report on the transfers is also required to be submitted.
