Chaibasa Protesters Begin 6-Day Padyatra to Ranchi over Heavy Vehicle No-Entry Demand

Hundreds March from Tambo Chowk to CM’s Residence; Warn of Intensified Agitation

Key Points:

  • No Entry Andolan Samiti launches 6-day padyatra from Chaibasa to Ranchi’s CM residence
  • Agitators demand no-entry rules for heavy vehicles causing frequent road accidents
  • Delegation had earlier met Governor; road jam protest held in October last year

CHAIBASA – Hundreds of protesters under the banner of the No Entry Andolan Samiti, Kolhan, set off on a six-day padyatra from Tambo Chowk in Chaibasa to the Chief Minister’s residence in Ranchi on Sunday, demanding enforcement of no-entry rules for heavy vehicles in and around the city.

The agitators stated that unregulated movement of heavy vehicles through Chaibasa and surrounding areas had been causing frequent road accidents. Despite the demand being raised for a long time, no concrete action had been taken by the administration.

Samiti members said the agitation had been ongoing for several months. A road blockade protest was held in October last year to press the demand. More recently, a delegation from the committee also met the Governor and submitted their demands formally.

The protesters issued a clear warning. They said that if the state government failed to take a positive initiative within six days, the agitation would be intensified further. The padyatra to Ranchi is being undertaken as an effort to take the movement directly to the government’s doorstep.

The absence of no-entry enforcement for heavy vehicles despite sustained local pressure has raised questions about the district administration’s inaction on the matter. It remains to be seen whether the government responds to the marchers’ demands or whether the protesters face disappointment once again.
