JNAC and Jugsalai Municipal Council Launch Pre-Monsoon Drain Cleaning Drive
Efforts Aim to Mitigate Flooding and Waterlogging; Public Urged to Cooperate
In preparation for the monsoon season, the JNAC and Jugsalai Municipal Council are cleaning major drains across Jamshedpur to prevent flooding.
JAMSHEDPUR – The JNAC and Jugsalai Municipal Council have come together to launch a significant drain cleaning campaign in Jamshedpur. The aim is to reduce the risk of flooding and waterlogging that often occurs during the monsoon season.
The initiative focuses on improving 56 major drains in the Jamshedpur Akshes Area and five major drains in the Jugsalai Municipal Council area.
Under the supervision of Tata Steel Utilities and Infrastructure Services Limited (JUSCO), the cleaning operations encompass various neighborhoods such as Vidyapati Nagar, Baridih, Sakchi Gurudwara Basti, Sonari, Circuit House Area, Ashiana Garden, Panchvati Nagar, Shastri Nagar, Anil Sur Path, Kadma, and Ramjanm Nagar.
Starting from June 3, the Mango Municipal Corporation will be initiating cleaning efforts in various areas. The focus will be on significant drains including Chanakyapuri, Moon City, Laxman Nagar, Shanti Nagar, Road No. 14, Murda Maidan, and Khadiya Basti Nala.
There have been some challenges that have been reported during the cleaning process. These challenges include the improper disposal of garbage into drains, encroachments that are blocking the access of machinery, and the dumping of trees into rivers, which is causing blockages.
These problems make it difficult to clean up and add to the pollution in the river.
The public is kindly requested by civic authorities to refrain from littering in drains or rivers and to utilize waste collection services as an alternative.
In addition, they highlighted the significance of respecting drains, refraining from cutting trees near water sources, and following regulations related to prohibited single-use plastics.
