  • Truck rammed car from behind on Chauparan ghat road; car was headed to Bihar

RANCHI – A devastating road accident on the treacherous curves of Danua Ghat in the Chauparan police station area of Hazaribagh district killed five people, all believed to be members of the same family, after a speeding truck rammed their car from behind and reduced it to mangled wreckage.

The car was travelling towards Bihar when the accident occurred on the winding road of the ghat. A truck coming from behind struck the vehicle with tremendous force. The impact was so severe that the car was completely smashed beyond recognition.

All five occupants of the car died on the spot. The deceased included two men, one woman, and two children. They are all believed to be members of a single family. However, official identification of the victims had not been completed until the time this report was filed.

The accident triggered panic at the scene. Local residents rushed to help those trapped in the wreckage. Police and rescue teams arrived shortly after being informed and launched relief and rescue operations. Rescue work was still underway at the time of filing this report.

Danua Ghat has been the site of several accidents in the past due to its sharp curves and heavy truck traffic. Local residents have renewed their demand for robust safety measures on the ghat, including better road markings, speed barriers, and permanent police deployment, in the wake of the latest fatal crash.

Road accidents on Jharkhand’s ghat roads have claimed several lives in recent months. In a similar incident earlier, a horrific collision at Khandamuda Chowk had also resulted in deaths and injuries, drawing attention to the dangerous state of such stretches.
