JAMSHEDPUR – A day-old dispute turned into a violent stabbing incident in the Azadnagar police station area of Jamshedpur on Saturday night, leaving multiple persons injured, one of them critically, after a group of youths arrived on Bullet motorcycles and attacked two men near Ruhani Markaz.
The incident occurred around 9 pm. According to one of the victims, Mohammad Ibrahim alias Soheb, several youths rode up on Bullet bikes and attacked him with knives. A man named Pappu stepped in to mediate. However, the attackers turned on him as well, stabbing and assaulting him severely.
Both Soheb and Pappu sustained serious injuries. Several youths from the other side were also hurt in the clash. The injured have been identified as Yusuf, Saif alias Jadoo Bacha, and Yasin. All were admitted to MGM Hospital for treatment. Among them, Saif alias Jadoo Bacha’s condition was reported to be critical.
The root of the conflict dates back to the previous day. Soheb alleged that during an earlier altercation, he had thrown red chilli powder at some youths. In retaliation, the attackers reportedly returned the next night to exact revenge.
After the stabbing, an enraged crowd set the attackers’ Bullet motorcycle on fire. The main accused had fled the scene by the time police arrived. The Azadnagar police reached the spot promptly after being informed. An investigation has been launched and the accused are being actively traced.
Tension prevailed in the locality following the incident. Police have been deployed in the area and are maintaining a close watch to prevent any further flare-up. Knife attacks stemming from old rivalries have been a recurring concern across Jamshedpur in recent months.
