JAMSHEDPUR – The Electrical Engineering Department at NIT Jamshedpur successfully concluded a six-day AICTE-ATAL-funded Faculty Development Program (FDP) on “Electric Vehicle & Charging Station Technology for Sustainable Development.” The program ran from January 13 to January 18, 2025, and included an array of technical sessions aimed at fostering research in EV technologies.

The inaugural ceremony, held on January 13 at 7:30 PM, featured esteemed guests, including Prof. Debashis Chatterjee of Jadavpur University, Kolkata, as the Chief Guest. Prof. Goutam Sutradhar, Director of NIT Jamshedpur, Prof. M.K. Sinha, Dean of Research and Consultancy, and Dr. Madhu Singh, Head of the Electrical Engineering Department, also graced the occasion. Coordinators Dr. Mrinal Kanti Sarkar and Dr. Madhu Singh led the proceedings.

Technical Sessions and Objectives

Thirteen technical sessions, accompanied by a questionnaire and feedback session, delved into advanced EV technologies. Topics covered included EV charging techniques, power transfer methodologies, renewable energy-based infrastructure, and policy frameworks. Experts from around the globe provided valuable insights.

“The aim of this FDP was to inspire new research dimensions in cutting-edge EV technologies, enhancing sustainable development,” stated Dr. Sarkar, one of the coordinators.

Valedictory Ceremony

The valedictory ceremony, held on January 18 at 1:00 PM, was marked by the presence of Chief Guest Prof. Pradip Kumar Sadhu from IIT (ISM) Dhanbad. Other dignitaries, including Prof. Sutradhar, Prof. Sinha, and Dr. Singh, commended the program’s success. Registered participants expressed appreciation for the comprehensive knowledge shared.
