JAMSHEDPUR – Ananda Marga Universal Relief Team, in partnership with Poornima Netralaya, successfully conducted cataract surgeries for 10 patients, providing free lens implants. The camp screened a total of 60 individuals for eye diseases.
The initiative, part of the Ayushman Bharat and National Blindness Control Program (DBCS), focused on identifying and treating cataract patients. Of the 60 people screened, 10 were diagnosed with mature cataracts. Surgeries were performed immediately, and patients were given free medications and glasses before being sent home.
Experts emphasized the importance of timely diagnosis. A representative remarked, “These camps are essential for addressing preventable blindness, especially in underserved areas.” The team aims to continue expanding access to eye care services in rural communities.
The next eye screening camp is scheduled for December 12 at Gadhra Shiv Mandir. Residents are encouraged to take advantage of these free health services.
