JAMSHEDPUR – The 17th edition of the annual short film festival, ‘Shorts-2024,’ will be held at the Centre for Excellence on November 23 and 24. Organized by the Society for Promotion of Professional Excellence (SPPE) Jamshedpur and Tech 5 Communications Kolkata, the festival is supported by Tata Steel.
The festival will showcase 20 short films from Jamshedpur, Ghatshila, Ranchi, Mumbai, Delhi, and Kolkata. These films, ranging in duration from 2 to 27 minutes, include 11 in Hindi, 5 in Bengali, 3 in English, and one silent film. The screenings will start at 5 PM on both days, with 10 films being shown each day.
In a press conference held at the Centre for Excellence, film director Tathagata Bhattacharya, along with theater artists Gautam Shankar Das and Siddharth Sen, announced that the films address social issues and creative themes. They highlighted that professional filmmakers, emerging talents, and students have contributed to the festival’s lineup.
Tathagata Bhattacharya emphasized the festival’s goal of providing a platform for aspiring filmmakers from Jharkhand. Over the last 16 years, Shorts has supported numerous filmmakers at both local and national levels, making it the longest-running short film festival in the region.
All participating directors will attend the event, offering an opportunity for interaction with film enthusiasts. Organizers expect Shorts-2024 to receive the same enthusiastic response as its previous editions.
