Jharkhand Faces Weak Monsoon, Raising Agricultural Concerns

Rainfall 49% Below Normal As Dry Spell Expected To Continue Until July 13

Weather patterns threaten crop health and water availability across 24 districts.

RANCHI – Jharkhand is experiencing a significantly weakened monsoon, leading to increased heat and humidity across the state.

The Meteorological Department forecasts no substantial rainfall until July 13, exacerbating agricultural challenges.

"Ranchi has received only 138.5 mm of rain against the normal 263 mm, a 47% decline," a meteorological official stated.

Most areas will see cloudy conditions with sporadic light to moderate showers.

Khunti Rania recorded the highest rainfall of 74.2 mm in the last 24 hours.

Pakur district faces the weakest monsoon, with 72% less rainfall than normal.

Overall, 24 districts report below-normal rainfall, totaling 129.3 mm – 49% less than expected.

"This dry spell poses significant challenges to agriculture and water availability," an agricultural expert noted.

Seraikela-Kharsawan and Lohardaga follow Pakur with 69% and 63% less rainfall respectively.

The prolonged dry conditions raise concerns about crop health and potential yield impacts.
