Olympic Day Celebrations to Feature Inaugurations and Friendly Matches

A new basketball court funded by Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Roy will be inaugurated on June 22, 2024, on the eve of Olympic Day.

JAMSHEDPUR – The newly built basketball court, funded by Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Rai, is set to be inaugurated on June 22, 2024, on the eve of Olympic Day.

Famed basketball Olympian Harbhajan Singh will officiate the inauguration, with MLA Saryu Roy presiding over the event.

International Olympic-level basketball coach JP Singh has also been invited to the ceremony.

The inauguration will feature a two-day friendly basketball match, involving teams from various schools.

This event will conclude on the evening of June 23, 2024, coinciding with Olympic Day.

Following the inauguration, the basketball court will host continuous training and match programs for basketball players.

In addition to the basketball court, a netball court funded by the MLA is nearing completion.

Saryu Roy has also allocated funds for the construction of Billiards, Snookers, and Table Tennis courts in the two large rooms in front of the Town Hall.

The necessary sports equipment for these indoor games has been supplied and installation is underway.

The funding details for these projects from Saryu Rai’s MLA fund are as follows:

1. Basketball Court: Rs 24,55,230

2. Netball Court: Rs 1,09,790

3. Billiards/Snookers and Equipment: Rs 5,59,500

4. Table Tennis Court and Equipment: Rs 3,11,852

The inaugurations of these facilities are expected to enhance the sporting infrastructure in the area, providing ample opportunities for local athletes.
