New basketball court and archery ground to boost local sporting infrastructure and talent development.
JAMSHEDPUR – Olympic basketball player Harbhajan Singh is set to inaugurate a new basketball court at the Sidhgora Sports Complex in Jamshedpur on Saturday, June 22.
The basketball court, funded by local MLA Saryu Roy’s constituency development fund, marks a significant addition to Jamshedpur’s sporting infrastructure. Roy will preside over the inauguration ceremony, which will also feature the presence of international basketball coach J.P. Singh.
"This facility aims to nurture young talent and promote basketball in our region," stated MLA Roy, emphasizing the importance of sports in youth development.
Alongside the basketball court, an archery ground will also be inaugurated. Roy has allocated funds for essential archery equipment, including target boxes, stands, and training kits.
The two-day event will showcase friendly basketball matches between various school teams on June 22 and 23, kickstarting regular training sessions and competitions at the new court.
The archery ground will initially host competitions at 5, 10, and 15-meter ranges, with plans for continuous engagement of aspiring archers.
Roy’s vision extends beyond these facilities. "We’re developing Sidhgora Sports Complex as a comprehensive sports center," he explained. Ongoing projects include a netball court and indoor gaming facilities for billiards, snooker, and table tennis, all funded from the MLA’s development fund.
Local sports enthusiast Priya Sharma expressed excitement: "These world-class facilities will certainly boost our city’s sporting culture and help identify new talents."
As Jamshedpur prepares to welcome these new sporting venues, the city’s athletic community eagerly anticipates the opportunities they will bring for skill development and competitive events.
