Jamshedpur Plans Comprehensive Polling Station Survey
District to address overcrowded and remote booths, seeks political party input
East Singhbhum’s election office initiates measures to improve voting accessibility as part of voter list revision program.
JAMSHEDPUR – District Election Officer Mittal Ananya announced a thorough survey of polling stations to address overcrowding and accessibility issues.
"We aim to create new polling stations where needed to ensure efficient voting," Mittal stated during a meeting at the Collectorate Auditorium.
The survey, part of the special summary revision program running June 25-July 24, will focus on booths with over 1500 voters and remote locations.
Political parties were urged to submit lists of areas requiring new polling stations to the Election Officer’s office.
"Door-to-door verification by BLOs will update the voter list, including new 18-year-old voters," Mittal explained.
The revision process includes removing shifted, duplicate, and deceased voters from the list.
Key dates announced include draft voter list publication on July 25 and final publication on August 20, 2024.
Political parties were asked to tag Booth Level Agents with BLOs to ensure accurate list creation.
Kumar Manish, Deputy Development Commissioner, and Singh Parul, SDO Dhalbhum, were among the key officials present.
This initiative underscores the district’s commitment to maintaining electoral integrity and inclusivity.
