Elephant Attack Claims Life of Farmer in Chakulia Block
Villagers express concern over increasing elephant attacks in the area.
State government’s failure to address elephant menace leads to frequent fatalities.
JAMSHEDPUR – Atul Giri, a resident of Khejuriya village in Jamua Panchayat of Chakulia block, was killed by an elephant while working in his field.
The elephant attacked Giri, leading to his death.
Forest personnel transported him to the Community Health Centre (CHC), where he was pronounced dead by doctors.
Relatives of the deceased could not reach the CHC due to the presence of elephants in the nearby forest.
Community Reaction
Former BJP state president, Dr. Dineshanand Goswami, along with party workers, visited the CHC to gather information about the incident.
Dr. Goswami expressed sorrow and highlighted the ongoing elephant menace in Chakulia block over the past two years.
He criticized the state government for its failure to address the issue, resulting in frequent elephant attacks and loss of lives.
Dr. Goswami mentioned continuous demands to the state government for action against the elephants, which have been ignored, leading to further fatalities.
Community leaders like Padmashri Jamuna Tudu, Shambhunath Mallik, Satdal Mahato, and others were present during the visit.
JMM Leaders’ Response
Leaders from Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) also visited the CHC to express their condolences and gather details about the incident.
They assured the family of their support during this difficult time.
The JMM leaders demanded prompt compensation for the family from the Forest Department, as per government provisions.
Leaders like Shubhadeep Das, Gautam Das, Rajesh Singh, and Gautam Sharma were present to show solidarity with the grieving family.
