* 2 FIRs filed for code of conduct violations as preparations accelerate
MEDININAGAR – The Palamu district administration has finalized 86 candidates for five assembly constituencies after allocating election symbols and completing nomination withdrawals.
The nomination process began on October 18 with 99 candidates filing papers.
However, five nominations were rejected during scrutiny due to discrepancies.
Moreover, eight candidates withdrew their nominations on Wednesday across different constituencies.
"We are ensuring strict implementation of the model code of conduct," stated a senior election official.
Meanwhile, two-ballot Electronic Voting Machine units will be deployed in three constituencies.
On the other hand, Chatra and Panki will use single ballot units due to fewer candidates.
Furthermore, the administration has registered FIRs against two individuals for violating conduct codes.
"The election preparations are progressing rapidly," remarked a district official.
In addition, Hussainabad has 18 candidates, while Daltonganj leads with 23 contestants.
Besides, Vishrampur will see 17 candidates competing for victory.
