Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticizes opposition parties for undermining tribal interests, promises development and anti-corruption measures in Jharkhand under BJP rule

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during a public meeting at Chaibasa Tata College grounds, strongly condemned the Congress and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) for their alleged role in undermining the rights and welfare of tribal communities in Jharkhand. He emphasized the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) commitment to protecting tribal interests and driving the state’s progress.

CHAIBASA – Prime Minister Narendra Modi accused the Congress and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) of jeopardizing the well-being and rights of tribal communities in Jharkhand while addressing a massive gathering at Chaibasa Tata College grounds.

He stressed the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) dedication to safeguarding tribal welfare and propelling the state’s development.

Addressing a gathering of thousands, PM Modi highlighted the BJP’s pivotal role in the formation of Jharkhand under the leadership of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

He accused the JMM of aligning with the Congress and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), parties that had initially opposed the creation of the tribal-dominated state.

BJP’s Initiatives for Tribal Empowerment

The Prime Minister underscored the BJP’s efforts in empowering tribal communities, citing the appointment of Draupadi Murmu, a tribal woman, as the President of India.

He also mentioned the celebration of tribal icon Birsa Munda’s birth anniversary as Tribal Pride Day and the establishment of a dedicated Tribal Ministry during Vajpayee’s tenure.

PM Modi highlighted various welfare schemes launched by the BJP government, such as the Ayushman Bharat Scheme, Mudra Loan Scheme, and Vikas Bharat Scheme, which were initiated in Jharkhand, reflecting the state’s significance for the party.

Allegations of Corruption and Land Grabbing

Accusing the current JMM-led government in Jharkhand of corruption, PM Modi referred to the recovery of Rs 300 crore in cash from a Congress MP’s residence.

He alleged rampant land grabbing, particularly targeting tribal-owned lands, and accused the state government of involvement in liquor and mining scams.

Commitment to Reservation Protection

PM Modi assured the audience that the BJP would safeguard the reservation rights of Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC).

He claimed that the Congress party intended to reduce their reservation quotas to accommodate religious minorities, challenging the opposition to clarify their stance on the issue.

Development Plans for Singhbhum

Recognizing Singhbhum as a land of revolutionaries, the Prime Minister pledged the central government’s commitment to its development.

He mentioned ongoing projects such as the construction of a medical college in Chaibasa and the treatment of sickle cell anemia.

PM Modi also highlighted the provisions of the new National Education Policy, which allows children to pursue higher education in tribal languages, and reiterated his government’s resolve to provide free ration and permanent housing to the poor.
