Police Act After Student’s Pregnancy Exposes Abuse Case

JAMSHEDPUR – A primary school teacher in Chatra was arrested after a minor student was found pregnant, exposing a serious abuse case.

The incident emerged from a residential tribal girls’ primary school in Chatra district. However, the accused teacher allegedly assaulted a Class 3 student repeatedly.

Meanwhile, the accused has been identified as Shankar Prasad, aged around 50. He was responsible for teaching and supervising students at the school.

The case surfaced when the student suddenly returned home from the hostel. Moreover, local women noticed unusual physical changes in the child.

On being questioned, the child initially reported illness. However, a medical check later confirmed pregnancy using a test kit.

Meanwhile, the revelation triggered panic and anger in the village. Residents gathered quickly and demanded immediate action.

Soon after, villagers reached the school with the child and protested strongly. However, police intervened to control the tense situation.

Hunterganj police station in-charge Prabhat Kumar arrived with a team. Moreover, officers arrested the accused teacher on the spot.

A case was registered under BNS, POCSO Act, and SC/ST Act provisions. Meanwhile, police confirmed the accused was sent to judicial custody.

The FIR was filed under case number 47/2026 dated April 9. Moreover, officials stated swift action was taken considering the severity.

On the other hand, district authorities initiated administrative action immediately. The accused teacher was suspended following official orders.

Meanwhile, multiple agencies joined the investigation process. These included the women’s police station and Child Welfare Committee.

Officials stated efforts are ongoing to ensure justice for the victim. Moreover, authorities are monitoring the case closely.

The police team included SI Nitesh Kumar Prasad and officer Sushma Kumari. However, their coordinated action ensured quick arrest.

In contrast, the incident has triggered widespread outrage across the region. Villagers have demanded strict punishment and permanent dismissal.

Moreover, residents stated such individuals should not remain in society. The case has raised concerns over student safety in residential schools.

Authorities now face pressure to ensure timely justice. Meanwhile, the investigation continues under multiple legal provisions.
