Jharkhand Deserves More Representation in Modi Cabinet, Says JMM
JMM Criticizes Modi Government for Inadequate Representation of Jharkhand MPs
JMM’s Supriyo Bhattacharya asserts that Jharkhand deserved more cabinet positions for better representation of local issues.
RANCHI – JMM general secretary and national spokesperson Supriyo Bhattacharya stated in a press conference today that Jharkhand should have received at least one more cabinet minister and one more minister of state.
Bhattacharya emphasized that for the effective implementation of the Sarna Dharma Code, caste census, and 27 percent reservation for backward classes, Jharkhand MPs should have had a greater presence in the Modi cabinet.
He pointed out that only Annapurna Devi, who is Koderma’s daughter-in-law and a Santhal, was appointed as a cabinet minister.
However, Bhattacharya criticized the lack of Dalit MPs from Jharkhand in the cabinet, highlighting that many senior leaders from Jharkhand, deeply connected to the state’s soil, were overlooked by the BJP.
He remarked, "Many native senior leaders from Jharkhand were elected as Lok Sabha MPs, but the BJP ignored them."
Taking a dig at the Modi government, Bhattacharya noted that a person who did not raise a single question in Parliament regarding the closed HEC Ranchi was made a minister.
He further criticized the appointment of MPs as state ministers who opposed central government policies that he claimed harmed thousands of workers.
Bhattacharya also questioned why no cabinet position was given to the NDA ally AJSU, which has one MP, Chandraprakash Choudhary from Giridih.
