Kinnars Display Deep Faith in Traditional Worship at Bistupur Northern Town
A remarkable display of faith and tradition was observed in Bistupur Northern Town, Jamshedpur, where Kinnars gathered to worship their clan goddess, Mangala.
JAMSHEDPUR – On Tuesday night, local Kinnars (eunuchs) embarked on a spiritual journey to the Kharkai river ghat, engaging in unique rituals to honor their deity.
Adorned with special decorations, they filled an urn with river water, which was then used in the worship ceremony.
The gathering showcased their deep faith, as some participants walked on burning embers, a test of endurance and devotion.
In a poignant plea during the rituals, the Kinnars requested their goddess to spare others from their fate.
The ceremony also included instances of self-mortification, where participants danced while piercing their tongues and other body parts with thin iron skewers.
This intense expression of faith was accompanied by prayers for happiness and prosperity, resonating with the sound of conch shells.
This event not only highlighted their religious fervor but also the unique cultural practices within the Kinnar community in Jamshedpur.
