Dhanbad Railway Station Empowers Women in Key Roles

In a landmark move on International Women’s Day, Dhanbad Railway Station saw 75% of its command roles filled by women, showcasing a significant shift towards gender equality in the railway sector. This initiative not only honors women’s contributions but also emphasizes their capability in handling major operational responsibilities efficiently.

DHANBAD – Women are leading the charge of most of the operations of different departments at Dhanbad Railway Station on International Women’s Day.

Sanjay Kumar, Station Manager of Dhanbad Railway Station, highlighted the empowerment of women in critical railway operations.

He noted, “Today marks a revolutionary change as women take the lead in crucial railway operations.” He further added, “Their performance has been exceptional, showcasing their unwavering competence and dedication.

Women have been entrusted with significant roles across various departments, including operations in RPF, RRI Operating Control, Yard, Guard Roster, and TC.

A woman railway worker’s leadership at Dhanbad Station exemplifies the railway’s commitment to gender equality.

The railway has strategically assigned 75% of its command roles to women, reflecting a firm belief in their abilities.

This move is a testament to women’s growing presence and success in traditionally male-dominated fields. In operations, women are proving their worth, handling key positions with skill and confidence. Notably, women were given charge of an MU train, highlighting their operational leadership.

The assignment of the Dhanbad-Sindri train guard position to a woman further illustrates the breaking of traditional barriers.

“Women are excelling in every role assigned, proving that gender does not define capability,” Kumar observed. The decision to entrust women with substantial responsibilities signifies deep respect and trust in their potential.

Reflecting on the day’s significance, a female TC shared, “Being given such responsibility is a proud moment for us, affirming the trust and respect we’ve earned.”

She remarked, “Today, we’re not just doing our jobs; we’re setting an example for future generations.”

The initiative underscores that women are capable of achieving great feats, standing shoulder to shoulder with their male counterparts.
