Railway Stations in Jharkhand Now Display Names in Bangla

Jharkhand Bangbhashi Unnayan Samiti Celebrates Signage Milestone

The Jharkhand Bangbhashi Unnayan Samiti’s persistent efforts have culminated in a significant victory for the Bengali community, as railway stations, including Ghatsila, now feature names prominently displayed in the Bangla language.

JAMSHEDPUR – The change has been met with widespread approval and gratitude toward both the Railway Administration and the Jharkhand Government for acknowledging and acting upon a long-standing demand.

Tapas Chatterjee, Central Co-Secretary of the Samiti, highlighted the group’s determination and collective action that led to this momentous achievement.

Following a final ultimatum issued to the railway administration on March 11, the demand for Bangla language signage at seven railway stations saw immediate action, marking a notable turnaround from previous appeals which had not been as successful.

The Samiti’s years of advocacy have finally borne fruit, eliciting a positive response and contributing to the cultural recognition of the Bengali community within Jharkhand.

Chatterjee extended special thanks to influential members of the Samiti, including Chairman Bengu Thakur, Central President Achintam Gupto, Working President Reena Mandal, and General Secretary Rajesh Rai, for their unwavering dedication to the cause.

This development not only celebrates the linguistic diversity of India but also sets a precedent for honoring the cultural and linguistic identities of all communities.
