Property worth one crore burnt to ashes due to fire in warehouse on Diwali night in Dhanbad.

Dhanbad: There is news of huge loss due to fire in a warehouse in Dhanbad. It is feared that property worth more than one crore rupees has been destroyed.

According to reports, on the night of Diwali, a massive fire broke out in the warehouse of Sharma Decorator and Caterers located near Polytechnic College in Baramudi, Dhanbad.

Property worth about Rs 1 crore kept in the warehouse was destroyed in the fire caused by the spark of firecrackers.

The list included 4 thousand chairs, sofas, mattresses, clothes, utensils, fridges, bamboo and various decorative items.

Despite efforts by local residents to extinguish the fire by opening the gate of the warehouse, their efforts were hampered as the gate did not open.

On receiving information about the fire, warehouse owner Ganesh Sharma immediately contacted the fire department.

Four vehicles of the fire department reached the spot and after much effort the fire was controlled.

The warehouse owner, who had left the warehouse after performing Lakshmi puja on Diwali night, was shocked when he received a call at around 10:30 pm informing him of the fire.

Troubled, he immediately reached Dhanbad police station and fire department to inform about the incident.

However, by the time the fire department arrived, the entire property was burnt to ashes. Some local residents speculated that the fire might have been caused by a short circuit.

Eyewitnesses claimed that fire engines reached the warehouse an hour after the incident occurred around 11 pm. Despite the delayed response, the fire department worked hard for three to four hours to control the fire.

According to the warehouse owner, he expressed deep loss and said that his 20 years of hard earned capital has now been destroyed. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
